Richmond is well connected via trains and buses.
By train: Frequent train services to Richmond by
- From Central London and the East: Leave Hammersmith on the A4 Great West Road, leave at roundabout on to Chertsey Road, heading for Chiswick Bridge, continue to five-way junction with Lower Richmond Road by Hammersmith and North Sheen cemeteries, cross almost straight on to the A316 towards Richmond, cross one more roundabout and Avalon House is on the left.
- From Kingston and the South: From Kingston follow the A307 through Richmond town centre to Richmond Circus, take third exit on to A316 towards Central London and Avalon House is on the right.
- From the West, M3 and M25: follow M3 until it becomes the A316, proceed past Richmond Circus and Avalon House is on the A316, on the right hand side.
- From Kew and the North: follow North Circular (A406) anti-clockwise on to South Circular (A205) at Kew Bridge; continue down A307 Kew Road to Richmond Circus, turn left on A316 towards Central London (first exit) and Avalon House is on the right.
Please be advised that there are no parking spaces available at the Institute. However there is an NCP car park in Old Deer Park, which can be approached from the A316. Which is about five minutes walking distance to ION. Also there is another NCP behind Richmond station.
By train: Frequent train services to Richmond by
- South West Trains, from London Waterloo, Vauxhall, Clapham Junction or from Wimbledon, Kingston, Weybridge, Windsor, Hounslow and Reading
- London Overground (formerly Silverlink Metro/North London Line) from Stratford, West Hampstead and Willesden Junction
- London Underground District Line from Upminster, Victoria, Earls Court and Hammersmith
By bus: trunk routes to Richmond town centre are:-
- 33 from Hammersmith
- 65 from Kingston
- 337 from Clapham Junction
- 490 from Hatton Cross
Buses H22, R6, R70, 190, 371, 391, 419, 490 and 493 pass the door (plus night bus N22 to Piccadilly Circus if you want to be really late)
