It is now estimated that 75%–90% of visits to GPs and healthcare practitioners are now related to the effects of stress. Not only that but research has linked ongoing stress to numerous health conditions and is associated with accelerated ageing. Optimal thyroid function is dependent on healthy adrenal function and plays a crucial role in overall health, vitality, mental and physical performance.

This one day course will give you lots of practical ideas to help your clients, family, friends to support their thyroid and adrenal health.

What will I learn?

This day aims to give lots of practical ideas and advice. By the end of the course participants will have: 

  • An overview of the adrenal and thyroid glands and their function
  • An overview of the signs and symptoms of suboptimal adrenal and thyroid health
  • Information on Laboratory testing
  • A deeper understanding of foods and nutrients to support the production of adrenal and thyroid hormones and how to incorporate them in your diet
  • An increased knowledge of the state of current related research and referenced material for those wanting more technical information.
  • A greater ability to produce individualised client programmes to help improve clinical outcomes.
  • The chance to significantly interact with a highly experienced speaker and gain answers and further ideas pertinent to your specific work or personal experience

How will I be taught?

Christine will explain key principles of functional nutrition and answer questions. Participants will be able to explore the benefit of using different foods and nutrients and be able to ask questions to the speaker to better understand principles and practice. Technical language may be used at times.

Space is limited to 40 participants. You will be provided with an educational resource that outlines key principles.

Materials will be provided electronically approximately two weeks before the course.    


Lecturer Description 

Who will teach this course?

Christine Bailey PGCE, MSc, mBANT, CNHC 

Christine Bailey is an award-winning nutritionist, chef and author of over 14 recipe and health books.  She regularly appears in the media and runs a successful practice in Berkshire and London. She lectures on nutrition at BSc and MSc level and presents at national conferences and events on a wide range of health and nutrition topics. Christine runs a range of cookery days on healthy eating and how best to implement specific dietary approaches.

  • Price includes drink and light refreshments throughout the day. Lunch is not provided but there is a fantastic selection of cafes and restaurants within a 5 minute walk as well as a range of independent and high street shops and attractive outdoor spaces, including a section along the River Thames.
