ION does recognise the previous achievements of students through recognized prior learning (RPL). Students who have already studied relevant subjects at higher education level, and believe they have already achieved learning outcomes of specific modules, can apply for RPL. This requires the student to send evidence of their transcripts to show that they have achieved the learning outcomes for the module(s) for which they are claiming RPL. Applications for RPL are then assessed by the Admissions Board. They may be either agreed or rejected, or further supporting evidence may be requested.

Successful applications for RPL result in ‘general credit’ being awarded for the corresponding module(s) and the student is awarded a pass for these modules, but no grade is given.
