Validation and accreditation

The BSc (Hons) Nutritional Therapy is validated by the University of Portsmouth, a leading modern university and TEF (Teaching Excellence Framework) gold rated. As a UK top 25 institution, it is recognised globally for its research.

Additionally, the Institute for Optimum Nutrition is uniquely dual-accredited by the British Accreditation Council (BAC) and the Nutritional Therapy Education Commission (NTEC).

The BAC provides a comprehensive quality assurance scheme for independent further and higher education in the UK. Its accreditation is globally recognised as the clearest mark of educational quality in the private sector.

NTEC accreditation means the course is accredited against the National Occupational Standards for nutritional therapy. External review through the external examiner system ensures professional body requirements are met.

On successful completion of the course, ION graduates can apply to join the nutritional therapists’ professional register, the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC), allowing them to apply for the British Association for Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine (BANT) professional body membership and to practise as a fully qualified registered nutritional therapist.
