Return to Practice

Looking to return to practice?

Sometimes after training for a career in nutritional therapy, life gets in the way. Perhaps you didn’t get started in practice, or maybe you put it on hold while dealing with other priorities.

For qualified nutritional therapists who have been out of practice for three years or more, we offer courses as a pathway to registration/re-registration with CNHC and full membership of BANT (MBANT). For those out of practice for less than three years, please refer to the BANT membership website for the BANT RTP process.

Non-practising for 3-7 years

Clinical Practice Short Course (University of Portsmouth validated)

  • Start: February
  • Duration: 6 months to complete
  • Modules & Credits: 1 module (20 credits at Level 6)
  • Mode of delivery: Online (distance learning)
  • Fee: £1,315
  • Admin fee: £150

This course will enable you to:

  • Refresh learning and clinical skills
  • Meet regulator and professional body requirements.
  • Gain insights from peers and experienced practitioners.
  • Case conference with peers and experienced practitioners.
  • Understand boundaries of practice.

Our student clinic provides a supportive environment that enables students to hone their existing clinical practice skills. During a typical day in clinic, you will usually work in a student care team and take it in turns to work directly with a client, under the supervision of a qualified training clinic supervisor. Your student care team will observe in real time your clinical consultation online.

Your training clinic supervisor is there to guide and encourage you over the course of the client appointment session. You will take them through your consultation and initial thoughts on the case and client care plan. The supervisor will observe and make notes throughout the consultation. After the consultation, your supervisor will debrief with you, ask for your reflections and guide you on your learning and action planning. You will then receive peer feedback from your care team.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Never joined BANT
  • Joined BANT but membership lapsed
