With your help we aim to raise £400,000 for the ION 40th Anniversary Fund to:

  • Expand access to our courses through the provision of bursaries and student support services for the next generation of nutritional therapists
  • Support development of courses and research degrees to support the profession as it grows
  • Touch countless lives by investing in education, empower graduates to improve the health and well-being of individuals and communities across the world

Speakers

Rachel Hampson
ION Chair

Rachel Hampson is a Registered Nutritional Therapist with a practice in London. She holds a Master’s degree in Personalised Nutrition and has a background in Medicine. Before qualifying, Rachel was a Business Strategy Consultant at Bain & Company, working in various sectors from food retailing to venture capital. She has also been involved in the charitable sector for 20 years in various voluntary roles, including with CHASE hospice care, now Shooting Star CHASE. Rachel also set up and successfully ran a Central London restaurant for 11 years. She joined the ION Board as Trustee and Vice-Chair in July 2016 and became Chair in January 2022.

Patrick Holford
BSc, DipION, FBANT, NTCRP 

Patrick is a leading spokesman on nutrition and mental health, and founder of both the Food for the Brain Foundation and the Institute for Optimum Nutrition. Originally trained in psychology, he was one of the first promoters of the importance of zinc, essential fats, low-GL diets and homocysteine-lowering B vitamins and their importance in mental health and Alzheimer’s prevention. He is the author of 46 books, translated into over 30 languages, including The Optimum Nutrition Bible and his latest book Upgrade Your Brain. He is a retired visiting professor at the University of Teesside and is in the Orthomolecular Medicine Hall of Fame.  

Heather Rosa
DipION fBANT fHEA

Heather Rosa, Dean of the Institute for Optimum Nutrition since 2014, is dedicated to enhancing educational standards in nutritional therapy. With 15 years of experience as a Course Leader and Principal Lecturer, she led the first Nutritional Therapy degree at the University of Westminster. Heather, a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, has a 39-year association with ION, where she trained as a nutritional therapist. She contributed to setting National Occupational Standards and the Nutritional Therapy Core Curriculum. For her services, she was awarded Fellowship of BANT. Heather also serves as an external examiner, accreditation officer, and education advisor.

Professor Michael Crawford 
PhD, FRSB, FRCPath

Michael is the Director of the Institute of Brain Chemistry and Human Nutrition and a visiting professor at the Imperial College, London, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Metabolism, Digestion and Reproduction. He is a pioneer in human nutrition research and a world- leading authority in the field of fatty acids and lipids in particular, their role in human brain development and evolution. He has published over 350 peer reviewed papers and 3 books. He collaborates in research internationally and is much in demand as a lecturer worldwide.

Dr Jenny Goodman
MA MBChB

Jenny Goodman, a medical doctor, author, lecturer, and broadcaster, qualified from Leeds University Medical School in 1982. Initially disillusioned with conventional medicine, she transitioned to lecturing on medical sciences and health topics and earned a Master's degree in psychotherapy and counselling. In the 1990s, Jenny discovered the British Society for Ecological Medicine, leading her to specialize in nutritional and environmental medicine. For 22 years, she has focused on fertility, pre-conception care, and children’s health, addressing pollution's effects. Jenny has authored two books on health in toxic environments and is a sought-after speaker and media personality.
