I have already booked a place on a short course but cannot attend. What is the policy in this respect?

Places on a short course can be cancelled within 14 days of booking. You will receive a full refund subject to a 10% cancellation fee.

No refunds will be given for non-attendance under any circumstances. You may however give your place to a colleague. We ask you to email [email protected] with their full name and the short course they will be attending at least 5 working days before. It is your responsibility to forward them any link to materials that you have received.

ION will not refund any travel, accommodation or sustenance costs that you may have incurred.

Transfers between courses are not possible.

What happens if the short course is cancelled by ION?

In rare circumstances a course may have to be cancelled or moved to another date. You will be offered a full refund or can choose to transfer to the new date. ION will not be responsible for any travel, accommodation or sustenance costs that may have been incurred.

I am a student, do I get discounts on short courses?

Student discounts are available on 1 day and 3 day courses (see specific courses for details). Proof that you are a current full or part time student on the day that the course is running must be shown when you register on the day. A student ID card, a letter from your college/university or an NUS card are acceptable forms of ID. In the event that ID is not provided, you will be asked to forward this within a week. If ION does not receive this, you will be invoiced for the price difference from a full price booking.

I am an ION alumni, do I get a discount on short courses?

Discounts are available on 1 day courses (see specific courses for details). Alumni discounts are not available on 3 day courses and Alumni are encouraged to take advantage of the early bird offers available.

I am attending a short course and have been sent a link to access materials. How can I open this?

You have been sent a link to a OneDrive folder which contains all the materials. Please copy this into your web browser. If this does not open, please try to open this in another browser (e.g. Google Chrome, Safari, and Internet Explorer)

I am attending a short course but am worried that I have not received any materials. What should I do?

A link to materials is usually sent 14 days before the course from [email protected] to a Dropbox folder. If you cannot see this in your inbox please check your junk mail. If you still cannot find it, please email [email protected]. Please note it may take 5 working days for us to respond to you.

I am interested in attending a course that I have previously seen advertised. Will it re-run?

We re-run many of our courses however it can be a year before a course re- runs. Sign up to our newsletter so that you can be the first to hear when a course goes live.

I would like to leave some feedback about a short course I attended. How can I do that?

At ION we appreciate your feedback. You will be asked to complete a feedback form at the end of each course. If you wish to complete a form after this time or leave any other feedback, please email [email protected]

How do I book a short course?

Visit our short course page and make your booking and payment. If for whatever reason you cannot do this, our reception can take payment over the phone. Please call 020 8614 7800.

Can I turn up and pay on the day?

Most of our courses sell out well before the day of the event.  We do not encourage people to turn up without a place.

Is it possible to purchase the course materials that accompany the course?

The short course materials are designed to complement the live sessions and are not available to be purchased separately.

I did not receive a confirmation email for the course I paid and booked for. Can you help?

Check that you have provided the correct email address to us. Contact us and we can resend the booking information for you.

Do ION short courses provide CPD (Continuing Professional Development) hours or points as part of professional training requirements?

All ION short courses provide 5 hours ION CPD, which as a practitioner may use for your CPD. Some practitioner- focused courses may also have accreditation or certification from other professional or awarding bodies and this will be clearly stated on the course programme. Each participant will receive a certificate at the end of the day. People who have paid for an event but do not attend will not be issued with certificates of attendance or other forms of CPD.

Am I able to log my attendance on one of your courses under my CPD log on BANT’s website? Is the course BANT approved?

All ION short courses provide 5 hours ION CPD, which you as a practitioner may use for your CPD on BANT’s website under self-directed learning. Some practitioner- focused courses may also have accreditation from BANT and this will be clearly stated on the course programme. If they are BANT approved, they will be listed on BANT’s approved CPD list of courses.

Do you offer refreshments or lunch facilities on short course or food demo days?

Refreshments (tea, coffee, fruit and biscuits) are offered on all courses held in Richmond. We do not provide lunch. There is a fantastic selection of cafes and restaurants within a 5 minute walk as well as a range of independent and high street shops and attractive outdoor spaces, including a section along the River Thames.
